一年一度的大節氣-端午節，英文是 Dragon Boat Festival，也有人說 Double Fifth Festival。

你知道端午節的由來嗎？我想大家都知道是屈原投汨羅江自盡吧？

既然如此，一起來學學英文吧！

The Dragon Boat Festival, also called Double Fifth Festival, is on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar. The day commemorates the poet, Qu Yuan, who committed suicide by jumping into the Miluo River on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar.

端午節又稱五五節，是在農曆的五月五日。這天是來紀念詩人屈原，因為他在這天跳汨羅江自盡。

Based on legends, Qu Yuan was a loyal and honest official. He was revered by most people. However, due to being framed by jealous rivals, he eventually felt left out with the emperor in court. Therefore, Qu Yuan was so depressed that he ended his life by jumping into the Miluo River.

傳說，屈原是一位忠臣且正直的官員。他相當受到大家的尊崇。但是由於受到其他充滿嫉妒的官吏所陷害，從此屈原在朝廷中被皇帝所冷落。因此屈原因為憂鬱而投汨羅江自盡。

People rowed the boats to the river and threw bamboo leaves filled with cooked rice into the river to rescue Qu Yuan. They thought that the fish could eat the rice rather than Qu Yuan’s body. Thus originated the custom of eating rice dumplings and rowing dragon boats on that day.

當時為了拯救屈原，人們滑船到江中，將竹葉包滿熟飯丟入江中。因為他們認為這樣魚就可以吃米飯，而不吃屈原。這後來也演變成了端午節吃粽子跟划龍舟的習俗。
